The Internal Revenue Service is the revenue service of the federal government. They are responsible of collecting taxes. The Internal Revenue Service is also responsible of overseeing programs like the Affordable Care Act. The first office was made in 1862, first time taxes were also collected. During this time, it help fund the American Civil War. The Sixteenth Amendment of the United States imposed tax on income at 1913. The Internal Revenue Service was formally known as Bureau of Internal Revenue.
