Privately-Owned Public Space, also known as POPS, is an amenity constructed and maintained by the owner for public use in exchange for having more access to areas. These places are often located in commercial districts and other districts of similar nature. POPS are often achieved through a process called incentive zoning, however POPS have an alternate way of being approved, through a special permit from the City Planning Commission. These specific public spaces have very good funding, so they have elegant designs and great vending machines.
